The Heritage Rooms
The rooms within New Building Annex (The Jackson Building) were afforded special treatment throughout this project as many of the original and valuable architectural features became apparent as years of panelling and repair modification were stripped away. The boarded- up fireplaces were a particular gem with their original tiling and cast-iron components still in place. These have now been sensitively stabilised and presented; similarly the stone-mullioned leaded single glazed windows have been removed, re-conditioned and replaced. In these rooms we have sought energy efficiency by other means so that the architectural integrity of the building is maintained. Our re-decoration of these rooms has used colours that are from a period palette and thus work well with the detailed panelling and cornicing that still adorns these rooms.
